Women in Leadership Breakfast: Elections Update (1)

Elections in LA County are changing! Join NWPC LA Westside for breakfast to discuss the important updates to our elections and voting processes taking effect this coming March. 

We will be joined by:

Samantha Stevens, a principle with the Stevens Consulting Group and a veteran political consultant who advises candidates and issue campaigns. Samantha will discuss how changes in voting will impact campaigns' voter engagement strategies, particularly, how extending the period for voting and the switch to polling centers will change the ways that campaigns educate and communicate with voters, as well as the impact on "GOTV".

The Voting Solutions for All People project, commonly referred to as VSAP, is the County’s initiative to improve and modernize the voting experience. In March 2020, the County will move away from a precinct-based model to the Vote Center model made possible through the California Voter’s Choice Act. This will create an 11 day period of voting and will allow voters to vote at any Vote Center in the County during that period. In addition, the County will move to a new fully accessible Ballot Marking Device, or BMD, which incorporates a modern touchscreen interface, but still retains a paper ballot for security. Although those features are the most significant, there will be a number of other changes that will improve the voting experience.
